We at PetsPyjamas have fallen in love with Britain’s most cowardly canine, Bentley.
Poor Bentley desperately needs a new home because his previous owners couldn’t cope with his fearfulness. The six year old Border Collie can’t go for walks in the dark, cowers at cats and is so nervous when he is left alone that he hides behind the sofa and chews his nails as a reaction to stress. His anxiety has reached the level where he has to wear specially-made lace-up mittens on his paws. Bentley suffers from ‘monophobia’ β the fear of being alone- which stems from when his first owner died.
Staff at the Dog’s Trust discovered just how cowardly he really was after they put him in an observation room to see how he responded to being alone – he whimpered at the site of a cuddly toy and bit his nails upon hearing a meowing cat on television. Helen Barlow, one of Bentley’s carers, said: βHe has very serious problems with abandonment. It stems from when his first owner died and left him alone.β
Bentley is looking for a loving home where at least one family member is at home for the majority of the day and evening. If you think you can offer Bentley a loving home, please contact The Dogs Trust in Kenilworth on 01926 484398.
