All of us at PetsPyjamas know that a dog is for life and not just for Christmas – but we would be delighted if we could help to could find a loving long-term home for Cleo in time for the festive season.
We met Cleo, a delightful three-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, on a recent visit to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. She has been at Battersea for over a year.
“It’s a complete mystery to me why she hasn’t been snapped up by a new owner yet – she’s such a lovely dog and so pretty,” says Jude Peppis, communications officer at Battersea. “Everyone adores her. She has a gorgeous face, with markings that make it look like she is wearing eyeliner! She’s inquisitive, friendly and curious about the world – a real lady.”
We might have been tempted to take Cleo home ourselves, but Rufus is a very jealous dog and we don’t think he’d be happy with all the attention Cleo would get!
Cleo is so socialised that she mainly hangs out with the staff at Battersea in their offices. She has a loving nature and adores people.
Battersea’s Jane Bardsley says: “Cleo arrived here in September 2010. She was brought into the home by her new owner, who had seen her advertised on the classified ad website Gumtree, and only had her for 24 hours before deciding to give her up.
“Cleo clearly wasn’t given a chance, as anyone who spends time with her falls in love with her and wouldn’t want to lose her. She is very affectionate and well-behaved, and loves going for walks.”
Cleo knows lots of commands, including “sit” and “on your bed”. She also loves the agility obstacle course at Battersea. We were entranced by her as she jumped through hoops, literally, and over poles. She was incredibly friendly and never barked once! We petted her and stroked her, and she lapped up all the affection.
“Cleo is looking for an experienced home in a quiet location so she doesn’t get distracted during her training,” says Jane. “She should be happy to be left for short periods if she is provided with something to do.”
