There is a local pub within a mile which serves real ale and good food. There is a well-stocked licensed general store, a post office which sells wonderful breads and preserves. Longnor has a fish and chip shop and a small, but delightful childrens park Woodside View is a haven for walkers and cyclists to explore the Tissington and High Peak cycle tracks.
Nearby is Buxton with its eventful Opera House, the Crescent Hotel which was recently opened boasting a 5-star spa and the pavilion Gardens, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both within easy reach, along with numerous National Trust Properties, Parks and Gardens, and delightful historic market towns and villages.

Not only are these properties close to the river, but the owner also owns other riverfront so if guests have a valid fishing licence and bring their own equipment, they can fish easily nearby.
Each lodge has a lawned area beside the river, and are designed in ‘upside-down’ style, enjoying an upstairs sitting-room leading on to a furnished balcony, where guests can relax in style and enjoy the sights and sounds of the river. All the lodges have been furnished and equipped to four star standard.
Day motor launches that accommodate up to 8 passengers are included free of charge with each property and these can be moored alongside the lodges. The motor launch is chargeable during Whitsun and Summer Holidays, direct from the owner at a preferential rate.
The properties are situated in Wroxham which is well known as the ‘Capital of the Broads’ and has a selection of cafes, restaurants and shops within a few minutes’ walk. The wider area is also criss-crossed by numerous footpaths and cycling trails. One of the best ways to enjoy the Broads is on the water by motor launch, or take one of the organised day trips arranged by the neighbouring boatyard. On the water, the beauty of the Broads can be truly experienced with its extensive wildlife (ducks, geese, swans, spoonbills and herons) and its sleepy Broads villages with their pretty flint cottages and attractive churches.

The coast is within easy reach (12 miles) with lovely sandy beaches and a string of villages spreading northwards to the bustling sea towns of Cromer and Sheringham. Alternatively, Norwich is less than 10 miles away with its cathedral, castle, museums, theatres, excellent shops and restaurants. National Trust properties well worth a visit are Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Hall, both within easy reach. Nearest shops are 500 yards. Moorings for motor launches are outside the property and life jackets are available free of charge. Pet life jackets available on arrival for a refundable £10 deposit. These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 32 guests.

Port Isaac has a picturesque working harbour and an array of quaint shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs.
Port Isaac lies on the South West Coastal Path and offers spectacular walks with views of dramatic cliffs and coastline of North Cornwall. Also close by is the sandy surfing beach at Polzeath. Just along the coast is Rock, which has beautiful beaches with a number of watersports available and St Enodoc Golf Club. From Rock a ferry can be taken over to Padstow, with its array of interesting shops, pubs and restaurants including Rick Stein’s famous seafood restaurant. From Padstow, a 5-mile stretch of the Camel Trail runs to Wadebridge offering a level route for walkers and cyclists and which passes by Pinkson Creek, a habitat abundant with bird life. Instow is an unspoilt seaside village with large stretches of sandy beaches and dunes, fishermen’s cottages, shops and a good selection of pubs and restaurants specialising in locally caught seafood whilst the local village store and delicatessen is a delight. The area is a must for watersports, sailing enthusiasts and fishermen, whilst walkers and cyclists will enjoy the famous Tarka Trail which passes close by.
Further afield, the rugged North Devon coastline and wonderful surfing beaches of Croyde or Woolacombe are just a short drive away. North Devon is well positioned for visits to Exmoor, Dartmoor and North Cornwall including the local beauty spots of Bucks Mill, Clovelly and Hartland. With so much to explore in this lovely part of North Devon, this is the perfect base for a memorable holiday. Golf is available locally, and Bideford is just 3 miles away, with family attractions including The Big Sheep and The Milky Way adventure parks.
