Outside, guests can sit, relax and unwind on the private balcony and enjoy the uninterrupted views of the glistening coast, which captures the offshore islands of Caldey, Worms Head and across the bay towards the Gower Peninsula. The historic walled town of Tenby, famous for its picturesque harbour, narrow cobbled streets and pastel painted Georgian houses, is a 5-minute drive away, or a bracing 30-minute walk along Tenby’s golden beach. A visit to the resort would not be complete with a memorable boat trip to Caldey Island, with its Celtic monastery and Cistercian monks, who have made it a holy island for hundreds of years.

Away from the resort, Pembrokeshire’s historic sites are well worth a visit including Pembroke, Manorbier and Carew castles, as are the numerous charming market towns of Narberth, Haverfordwest and the quaint city of St David’s with its magnificent 12th-century cathedral. Within easy reach are many little coves, the ruins of Tintagel Castle and Celtic monastery remains – with two little beaches far below connected by Merlin’s Cave. Step out of your front door and you have a pretty tea room at the end of the row of terraces, handy if you don’t fancy cooking breakfast or for sampling their cake offerings after a day out exploring. You are perfectly situated for the local deli, banks, greengrocers, restaurants, pubs and everything else you would expect from a bustling high street. A gentle stroll and you can visit the Heritage Centre, where you can watch the town model’s ’Sound and Light’ show which goes into detail about the history and the colourful past of Rye and its inhabitants. Just a 10-minute drive away is the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve where you can walk along the sea wall and out on to the marshes to enjoy flora and fauna. You can choose to walk out to Camber Castle, originally located on a shingle spit and where once it protected the towns of Rye and Winchelsea before the sea receded. Although no longer open to visitors it is still a striking landmark worth a visit.

The award-winning beach of Camber Sands is just a short drive away and has miles of sandy beach and dunes to explore. Visit the rock pools at low tide on the pebbly beach at Pett Level, just a 10-minute drive from Rye. The towns of Hastings and Ashford are around a 30-minute drive away and here you can get mainline trains to London if you wish to explore the capital for a day. The towns of Tenterden and Canterbury are all within easy reach by car and are well worth a visit. If you would like to take a day trip to the continent, the Eurostar can be picked up from Ashford International station and trains to Paris, Lille and Bruges are available. Alternatively, the ferries run from Dover just 45 minutes away or the Channel Tunnel from Folkestone, a 45-minute drive.

Nearby Broad Haven beach is a long, narrow sandy and pebble beach at high tide but at low tide, a huge expanse of firm sand is revealed with plenty of room for everyone – and it can get busy during the summer months due to its safe bathing. This is the perfect place for a dog walk and is only 4 miles from Rogeston House. You’re 2.2 miles from the centre of the county town of Haverfordwest. This is a central town to Pembrokeshire and has an impressive castle as its backdrop. Here you’ll find supermarkets, a fantastic farmers market, takeaways, town centre shops, vets, a hospital, and petrol stations. There is also a range of great restaurants here.

Rose Cottage is thought to date from the 16th Century. It is situated on the hillside at the end of a row, offering glimpses of the sea from the front sitting out area. A woodburner makes this holiday cottage an ideal getaway for all seasons. Stroll down the hill into the Cinque Port of Hythe with its shops, restaurants and beach. Swansfield Stables is situated on the outskirts of Alnwick and enjoys a tranquil setting on a smallholding. The original stables is thought to have been designed by the acclaimed 19th century Newcastle architect John Dobson. At the rear of Swansfield Stables there is a peaceful cobbled courtyard which gives access to a detached former cart shed, which has been beautifully transformed to create this self-catering holiday accommodation. The open plan living space covers the entire ground floor where a wood burner creates a cosy ambience. There is a wide array of amenities available within the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick, most within half a mile. The picturesque town of Rothbury, which sits at the foot of the Simonside Hills, is a short drive to the west. The National Trust property at Cragside is situated on the edge of Rothbury and is nestled within 1000 acres to explore.

Heading east of Alnwick is the stunning Heritage coastline which this area is renowned for. With miles of golden, sandy beaches to discover, Swansfield Stables makes an excellent base from which to explore the heather-clad hills to the west and the stunning seashore to the east.
