Set on the edge of Abergynolwyn, a village that lies in the shadows of Cader Idris and situated between the popular seaside resort of Tywyn and market town Dolgellau, this beautiful detached barn conversion provides spacious accommodation, ideal for families wishing to enjoy the peace and tranquillity. Tywyn is surrounded by the Tarren Hills, and holds the 7-mile long Talyllyn Narrow Gauge Steam Railway that runs between Tywyn Wharf and Nant Gwernol. Nearby Tal-y-llyn lake and Talyllyn steam railway are always popular with visitors, as are the sandy beaches along Cardigan Bay. Some visitor attractions include the Centre for Alternative Technology, King Arthur’s Labyrinth, Animalarium, Coed-y-Brenin Forest and Portmeirion Italianate village. Other places to visit are Birds Rock, Castell y Bere, Dolgoch Falls Walk, Aberdovey, Corris slate mines and craft centres. The location is also great for easy access into Snowdonia. Ty Hir is located close to the beautiful Mawddach Estuary with its coastal trail and cycle path. There is direct access from the farm leading down to the golden sands of Fairbourne beach, great for families with small children or across the Victorian bridge to Barmouth. If you wish you can just relax, enjoy a spot of fishing nearby, or for the more energetic you can enjoy family walks in the idyllic scenery, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Snowdonia National Park. The family-run pony trekking and equestrian centre on-site is just on the north side of the farm, away from our holiday cottages with menage Hire (arena), riders or complete beginners are catered for. Dating back to the 1800s, this tastefully decorated, terraced property is located near the centre of Beddgelert, a popular village in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. This holiday property features a lovely open fire in the living room, with a further wood burner in the dining room/kitchen. There is a unique cliff-type garden with a flight of steps up to the small seating area above the house, from which to admire the view of the River Glaslyn and the surrounding mountains. Beddgelert has much to offer the visitor, including the famous legend of the faithful hound Gelert. You can ride a steam train on the Welsh Highland Railway to Caernarfon. There are excellent walks in the area and beaches are just a short drive away. Shops, restaurant and pubs ¼ mile.

The barn is situated in the grounds of a small farm, and is an ideal holiday base close to the mountains of Snowdonia. Tan Rallt Barn has plenty of space for eight people and can accommodate climbing and walking groups coming into the Snowdonia National Park. It’s a great location for outdoor enthusiasts being close to the Ogwen Valley and Zip World - the longest zipwire in the northern hemisphere, and just a short drive from Llanberis and Snowdon, with its famous mountain railway. You’ll find Penrhyn Castle (NT) just down the road, whilst Caernarfon, with its impressive castle, the Isle of Anglesey with 125 miles of coastline, Capel Curig and Betws-y-Coed are all close by. The GreenWood Forest Park at Y Felinheli, Yr Hwylfan (The Fun Centre) at Caernarfon and Electric Mountain at Llanberis are all well worth a visit. Shop 0.5 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles. This superb property, set in the middle of the popular town of Betws-y-Coed is spread over three floors and has a good sized garden with views across the river. With the many mountain walks and cycle tracks in the area, there is plenty to do. Along with the many shops and restaurants there are also golf courses and riding schools locally as well as kayaking and climbing. With many places of interest close by, you can visit the National Trust properties at Bodnant Gardens or the Castle of Conwy as well as Victorian Llandudno. Snowdon itself is close by where you can choose to walk up or get the train to the top from Llanberis. Shop 200 yards, pub 100 yards and restaurant 120 yards.

This lovely, detached farmhouse sits in rolling countryside within the beautiful Snowdonia National Park just outside the little hamlet of Rhyduchaf and is two miles from the historic market town of Bala. The farmhouse offers four good sized bedrooms and there is plenty of space to relax. There is a pleasant yard where guests can relax with a glass of wine or it makes a great place to dine al fresco.
Bala offers a choice of places to eat out with plenty of cafés and eateries for you to choose from. You can walk straight from the door or hop in the car to explore the area. The National White Water Centre is close by, where you can experience the thrill of rafting or canyoning, whilst more sedate activities may be found on the shores of Bala Lake which is close by. Take a trip on a steam train on the narrow gauge railway along the lake shore between Bala and Llanuwchllyn, have a day at the beach over on the coast at Barmouth, or try some Welsh foodie delights at the award-winning Rhug Estate Organic Farm Shop at Corwen. Further afield in Blaenau Ffestiniog is the incredible Bounce Below where the whole family can try bouncing on trampoline nets deep underground in an old slate cavern, and Zip World, the largest zip wire zone in the world where you can fly high over the quarries whilst enjoying the spectacular view as you try not to scream! Whether you want to take a leisurely stroll down into Llanrwst for lunch, or drive over to the nearby village of Betws-y-Coed, there are plenty of memorable places to visit. For the adventurous amongst you, the cottage is situated only a short drive from Adventure Parc Snowdonia, where you can take part in an array of activities, from rock climbing to aerial assault courses, and you can even try your hand at surfing. Alternatively, take a long walk over to either Llyn Geirionydd or Crafnant to admire the beautiful lakes.

After a day of exploring all the local area has to offer, come back to this characterful and lovingly finished cottage and enjoy some family time. Cook yourself a fresh meal in the modern open plan kitchen/dining room, where you can all sit comfortably and reminisce about the day’s activities. Afterwards, place yourself next to the roaring double-sided wood burner, which you can enjoy either one of the two cosy living areas. Dating back to the Victorian era and a former vicarage, this large detached property is located slightly off the A5 historical route between Betws-y-Coed and Capel Curig. The holiday property has been carefully restored retaining many original features, boasting a cosy and atmospheric wood burner, whilst a medieval highgate bed captures the Victorian period. The elevated gardens to the rear (steps may be slippery when wet) overlooks the mountains and local countryside.

The property is in an excellent location with the walks of Snowdon on the doorstep, including Llanberis Path, the easiest and longest route, The Miners’ Track, Snowdon Ranger Path and the Watkin Path. Capel Curig nestles in the foothills of Moel Siabod, Y Glyderau and Y Carneddau, endorsing the majestic view of the Snowdon horseshoe. Afon Llygwy flows through the village, making its way down to Betws-y-Coed, a nearby village where forests, lakes and mountains combine to produce a stunning landscape. Coffee shops, craft houses, a miniature steam railway and a number of good eating houses are located in the centre of Betws-y-Coed village.

Day trips to consider would be Bodnant Gardens, set in one of North Wales’ most famous estates, or Conway, with its castle walls, marina, selection of shops and delicatessens, not forgetting the smallest house in the UK according to the Guinness Book of Records. Llangollen in the opposite direction is a pleasant Welsh town with its horse-drawn canal boats, light railway, Dr Who experience, and world famous festivals such as the annual Eisteddfod. Beddgelert is a short drive and is good for walkers or children wishing to visit Gelert’s Grave. Most areas of the Lleyn Peninsula are within an hour’s drive, where good beaches and watersports can be found. Portmeirion village is also great for a day trip with its exotic plants and Italianate buildings. Fishing and golf are available within 5 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub ¼ mile.
