The Admiral’s House - five well-furnished and equipped apartments (three of which are featured here) - is stunningly located on the edge of Ilfracombe’s Heritage harbour with great harbour and beach views from all living rooms and bedrooms .The Admiral’s House is centrally located for Ilfracombe’s main attractions. There are friendly pubs and restaurants, including Damien Hirst’s The Quay (opposite side of harbour), and shops and cafes within a few minutes’ stroll. There are local boats for trips and fishing. For special experiences, the summer Lundy Island ferry runs from the harbour. Sometimes the famous Waverly Paddle Steamer offers coastal cruises. The Admiral’s House is a 5-minute walk to the Landmark Theatre. The path at the front of the house is the start of the coastal path leading to Hillsborough Nature Reserve and the coves of Reparee and Larksdown. Hele beach is a short walk, or there is paddling on the sandy beach just below the window. A great base for touring, surfing at Croyd and Woolacombe, cream teas at many gardens, National Trust properties, unspoilt Exmoor, the Victorian cliff railway at Lynton and Lynmouth and many mini theme parks within a short drive. Returning to the harbourside holiday apartment, fishing boats can be seen landing their catch, and crab and lobster can be bought for supper! Shops 100 yards.

Set all on the ground floor with ramped access, you enter into the spacious yet cosy open plan living, dining and kitchen area. The kitchen comes fully equipped with an electric hob and oven, dishwasher, washing machine and all you need to whip up everything from the simplest meal to a family feast! The living area has a gorgeous corner sofa, TV and gas wood burner, making this the perfect space to relax after a busy day exploring Exmoor. The bedrooms, each with a Smart TV, are located at each end of the apartment, with a twin bedroom at one end and a double bedroom at the other which has beautiful French doors leading to your private gravelled courtyard. The large bathroom has a bath with shower over, toilet and light up mirror, there is also a second separate toilet. Outside, you have two private courtyard spaces, both of which are fully enclosed and have seating areas where you can sit back and relax or enjoy an al fresco meal. Your four legged family members are able to run around in this area. You also have use of the owner’s enchanting landscaped gardens that lead down to the River Barle, where you are able to spend time fishing as the owners have the rights to this part of the river! *Please keep your dogs on the lead in the main gardens due to the owner’s chickens and ducks.
When staying at Withymead Cottage, you are lucky enough to be staying in one of Exmoor’s most picturesque villages, with its river meandering through, a fabulous tea room, well stocked local shop and a 17th-century pub, it truly is the English countryside at its finest. Miles and miles of walks head off in every direction or jump in your car and discover more of the area, such as Tarr Steps or the beautiful north coast towns of Porlock and Lynton. For more history head to the Medieval village of Dunster and visit the Castle then jump on the West Somerset Steam Railway and chug along the coast and through the countyside.

Roosters Retreat is a first-floor apartment set within an old Grade II Listed cottage that is situated within 1 mile of the seafront in this lovely seaside town and offers comfortable, spacious and contemporary accommodation for up to four guests who are looking for the perfect base from which to discover this beautiful part of the country. Fully updated, it is well suited for a small family or couples and is within easy reach of shops, restaurants and the beach. The accommodation comprises a spacious open plan lounge/kitchen/diner with a high arched ceiling with a smart TV and comfortable furniture. The kitchen area has an electric oven and hob, a dishwasher and a full size fridge/freezer. Directly outside the main living area is a small sitting-out area. There are two bedrooms; a king-size and a twin and a lovely modern shower room parking is available directly outside the apartment for one car.

Not only do you have Exmoor on the doorstep, with its magnificent views, designated ‘dark skies’ for gorgeous stargazing, wildlife and cosy pubs; but the town is also the starting point of the Southwest Coast Path, the longest countryside trail in the south-west. It’s also the terminus for West Somerset Railway, the longest heritage railway in Britain. The town offers a wide range of attractions, including the beach, promenade, harbour, beautiful gardens and a colourful tree-lined avenue with an array of shops and amenities. Dominated by the wooded slopes of North Hill, the whole area is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty and is also well situated to discover the beauty of North Devon with stunning Lynton and Lynmouth en route.

This lovely ground floor apartment is both spacious and airy and is located under 300 yards away from the serene local beach – the perfect place to enjoy some of the best sunsets in this amazing region. The popular South West coast path is just a few minutes walk from High Tide. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay as a base for discovering North Devon or want a place to simply kick back and relax, then High Tide is just perfect. Accessed via the private car park, the apartment is reached up a flight of stairs and once inside the accommodation is all on one level and comprises two bedrooms (a kingsize and a twin) and a contemporary bathroom with a bath and shower over. The open plan living space includes a comfortable living area with a Smart TV and patio doors leading out into the patio garden, which is on two levels. From here you can sit and enjoy an outdoor meal or evening drink and you can see the sea with Wales in the distance. Back inside, the kitchen/dining area has all you’ll need for your stay. Private parking is also available for up to one car. Within a 5 minute walk there are shops, cafes and pubs.
The surrounding area has many attractions waiting to be discovered, such as the local beach at Combe Martin where you can enjoy the stunning sunsets of the North Devon coast. On the door step is the South West Coast Path too, popular with walkers, and the surrounding area boasts other attractions such as Cairn Woodland Nature Reserve, Watermouth Bay and, the lovely Fuchsia Valley, Watermouth Castle and Theme Park and don’t forget the nearby town of Ilfracombe with its very own harbour and port which dates back to at least the 12th Century. here you can sample quality ice cream, fish and chips and visit various craft shops, plus Damien Hirst’s ‘Verity’ statue, which is a must see. Trips to Lundy Island, coastal cruises, fishing, sea-life safaris and diving are also all available from here. Take a trip on the Ilfracombe Princess and see seals, porpoises and sea birds nesting on the cliffs. Try your hand at sea fishing on Blue Fin or take an exhilarating tour of the amazing coastline on the Ilfracombe Sea Safari or on the Hampshire Rose, a former RNLI Lifeboat.
Combe Martin is also perfectly situated to the enjoy the countless other North Devon attractions such as the popular Tarka Trail which provides the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and scenery stretching from Barnstaple through to Bideford and beyond. And then there’s stunning Exmoor National Park with its beautiful night skies, just 6 miles away and Lynton & Lynmouth, 13 miles to the northeast with its incredible sea views, rugged cliffs and amazing funicular cliff railway, which opened in 1890 and is the highest and steepest totally water powered railway in the world! If you can bear to drag yourself away, there are watersports and fishing at the nearby Tamar Lakes, coastal and country walking, golf, surfing, horse riding, cycling and many family theme parks including The Milky Way and The Big Sheep all available locally. Pretty fishing villages and spectacular beaches and coves are dotted all along this coastline from Padstow, Tintagel, Crackington Haven and Bude in Cornwall to Westward Ho!, Clovelly and Instow in Devon. The wild beauty of Dartmoor and Exmoor are close by and the famous Eden Project is an easy drive for a great day out. Right in the centre of the bustling seaside village of Woolacombe, The Nook is an ideal spot for those wanting a traditional seaside holiday. Located on the ground floor of an apartment complex, all the delights that Woolacombe has to offer are only a stones throw away. Most importantly, the property is within easy walking distance to Woolacombe’s magnificent award-winning beach. Inside, the apartment has been tastefully furnished to provide comfortable surroundings after a busy day exploring the local area. It also has the added bonus of access to a gravel courtyard area. All of Woolacombe’s shops, restaurants, bars and other amenities are right on the doorstep, so you can really soak up the atmosphere of the village.
If you fancy a day away from the beach, there are plenty of other things to do during your stay. Nearby Ilfracombe has all the amenities of a bigger town with a wider range of pubs, restaurants and shops to choose from. The famous Tunnels Beaches is just around the corner, and a short walk away is Ilfracombe’s pretty harbour area, with its quay side, lifeboat station and church overlooking the Bristol Channel.
There are numerous attractions within easy reach of the property including the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, Watermouth Castle and the Lynton to Lynmouth funicular railway. There are also beaches at Croyde and Saunton, where again you will find some of the best surf beaches in the country, as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor and the South West Coastal Path are located close by, and on a clear day the views of the surrounding coast and countryside can be spectacular from these well known walking areas. Grace Cottage is located in the bustling rural village of High Bickington in North Devon. Furnished and presented to a very good standard, the cottage is ideal for those wanting to experience a bit of village life. Located next door to the owner’s home, guests are welcome to use the large garden to walk around or to sit out and relax in. Inside, the cottage has all you would need for a comfortable stay, including a roaring wood burner in the living room for cosy nights in. The cottage is ideal for a couple or a young family. The local community run shop and pubs are both within walking distance of the cottage.

Located in the heart of North Devon, Grace Cottage is perfectly placed to get out and explore all this stunning area has to offer. The North Devon coastline has a little something for everyone from quaint old fishing villages at Bucks Mill and Clovelly, to large sandy beaches at Saunton and Westward Ho!. The quay and lighthouse at Hartland offer some stunning scenery whatever the weather. Other local attractions include the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal Factory, both near Great Torrington.

There are three golf courses close by, the nearest being Libbaton Golf Course. Salmon and trout fishing on the River Taw can be arranged locally, whilst slightly further afield both Dartmoor and Exmoor are easily accessible to enjoy a day’s exploring. There is cycling along the Tarka Trail. Nearby Barnstaple has a good range of shops, restaurants and local amenities, as well as a theatre and cinema. If you have younger ones, The Big Sheep and Milky Way Adventure Park are great places to head for. Beach 14½ miles. Shop 500 yards, pub 200 yards and restaurant 8 miles.

Blurridge Barn is the perfect holiday choice for a peaceful coastal escape at any time of year. This delightful detached barn within the grounds of the owner’s home has been lovingly converted in 2019 and is presented to a high standard. It is ideally located in the traditional seaside village of Combe Martin, just 1½ miles from the beach. This delightful North Devon village nestles within a fertile valley with the sea on one side and Exmoor National Park on the other. It has everything you need for the ideal holiday with secluded sandy beaches, rock pools to explore, dramatic coastal scenery and lots to do nearby.

The open plan living space has a cosy wood burner to curl up beside on a chilly evening and access onto a covered terrace where you can enjoy a morning coffee, overlooking the valley whilst you plan your day. There is a additional fridge/freezer located in the garage, which can be requested through the owner. The two bedrooms downstairs have crisp cotton sheets, sumptuous beds and the master bedroom has French doors leading to the garden. If you are lucky on a still day you can hear the distant roar of the lions, the howl of the wolves and the chatter of the monkeys at the nearby wildlife park. At Blurridge Barn you truly are transported to another world.

Fans of the great outdoors can hike along to Great Hangman, the tallest sea cliff in mainland Britain, or follow the 230 hidden steps down to Golden Cove for some spectacular views. Situated on the South West Coast Path, Combe Martin is also home to several dog friendly pubs and has a good selection of local stores. If you fancy getting out on the water you can hire a kayak or stand-up paddle board in the village and take to the calm waters in the bay.

Young and young at heart will enjoy the unique experience of the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, just 2 miles away, where you can swim with sea lions, meet the meerkats and see the animatronic dinosaurs in action!

Exmoor Zoo is just 10 miles from the property and the larger seaside town of Ilfracombe is 5 miles away. Its highlights include the harbour and the famous ‘Verity’ statue, the Victorian Tunnels beach and Landmark Theatre. There is also a good range of shops, restaurants and amenities. Other highlights in the area are Watermouth Castle, the breathtaking cliff railway between Lynton and Lynmouth and there is great walking on Exmoor. At Woolacombe and Croyde you will find some of the best surfing and family beaches in the country.
