Polean Farm Cottages are located in Cornwall, down green lanes, off the Looe to Polperro road, just outside the village of Pelynt. The farm is set amongst rolling farmland and is less than 2 miles from the sea. All of the cottages are full of character and provide a cosy home-from-home. They have all been converted from original farm buildings which date back to the 18th century.
The Old Farmhouse (ref UK12895) is a historical, semi-detached farmhouse which has been tastefully renovated and is perfect for a large family get together or for two families to holiday together.
Little Owls Cottage (ref UK12896) is a detached barn named after the owls that still live in the nesting boxes around the building which can sometimes be heard at night. It is set in its own garden with glorious views across the farm and towards the village of Pelynt.
Rosebud Cottage (ref UK12897) and Shires Rest (ref UK12899) are pleasant, beamed cottages with lovely countryside views. Before being converted, both cottages were used to store hay in the winter and you can still see many of the original features.
Threpney Cottage (ref UK12898) is an imaginatively converted ’roundhouse’ and is full of character. The cottage was named after the old twelve sided three penny piece due to its shape.
Twinkles Cottage (ref UK12900) is a charming and spacious ‘upside down’, beamed cottage, with great views across the farm and surrounding countryside.
Waggoners Cottage (ref UK12901) is a delightful single-storey cottage, with its own garden and views of the front fields and the children’s play area at the rear. The cottage was named after the wagons that used to be stored in it and you can still see many of the original features of the barn.
The Mealhouse (ref UK12902) was originally used to store the feed or ‘meal’ for the pigs that resided in the pig sty which can still be seen across from it. The Mealhouse is detached and set slightly apart from the other cottages, offering uninterrupted views across the farm.
Polean Farm provides the perfect destination for a family holiday. The farm offers animal feeding each week day morning, where you may help bottle feed lambs (seasonal) and hand feed pigmy goats and chickens, as well as enjoy pony or tractor rides! The farm is also a working livery yard and children and parents often enjoy visiting the horses and ponies each day.
Guests have free use of an indoor heated swimming pool just a few minutes’ drive away. It’s perfect for families and children who want to splash around or those wanting to put in a few lengths and keep fit. Guests are also welcome to make free use of the nightly entertainment at the same local holiday complex which is just a few minutes’ drive from the farm. The entertainment is on every night and includes children’s entertainment, followed by grown up entertainment with top musicians, performers and comedians regularly appearing throughout the season. Children are allowed in the venue for the whole evening. Please note, the pool is not available during August due to overcrowding, and entertainment is not available November-March (except during school holidays). You are also primely positioned to reach Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetland Park, Cotswold Water Park, Berkeley Castle and Butterfly House, Prinknash Abbey (bird and deer park), Thornbury Castle and Cheltenham Race Course and The historic town of Tewkesbury with its famous abbey, Westonbirt Arboretum, Stratford-upon-Avon, the Roman city of Bath, Regency Cheltenham and the cathedral cities of Bristol and Gloucester with their historic docks are also close by.

This corner of Dumfries and Galloway truly is magical with many sandy beaches and rocky coves along the coast, while inland there are many countryside walks to enjoy. Nearby the Galloway Forest Park, known for its starlit dark skies, has excellent cycle paths. There is so much to see and do with castles, prehistoric sites and specialist gardens, thanks to Galloways’ mild climate.

Hunkered down a winding country lane alive with wildflowers, Trevigue is a very special holiday cottage sleeping up to six guests and will create the type of Cornish holiday where treasured memories are made. This cottage is very remote, not overlooked and extremely private with its own drive and only a 20-minute walk to the lovely Crackington Haven with two cafés and a pub.
Once inside you will notice the stylish décor which is underpinned with a delightfully quirky home-from-home charm. Much care and attention to detail ensures that the cottage interiors are modern, stylish and most of all, deliciously comfortable. There are many traditional touches such as reclaimed floorboards, old oak beamed ceilings and winding wooden staircases which make this self-catering farmhouse so unique and so utterly alluring. Trevigue Holiday Cottage has a large upstairs bathroom with Victorian tiled floor, and vintage-style fittings including a deep bath for soaking in after a long day stomping the North Cornwall coast path. The ground floor shower room has a walk-in shower perfect for washing off sandy toes.

There is plenty of parking for two cars right next to your self-catering Cornish cottage, and any additional cars can park in the large car park situated next the main farmhouse, which is less than a minute’s walk away.

Tigh-nam-Muc is a stone-built cottage which forms part of an 18th-century farm steading. It represents ’the best of both worlds’, set in the countryside yet within very easy access of Edinburgh by bus or by car. The traditional exterior of the cottage is complemented by a comfortable, spacious and bright contemporary interior converted by architect Michael Gray. The cottage has four bedrooms, one with en-suite facilities. The open-plan kitchen, dining and living space provides bright, comfortable accommodation with an open fire and wood burner. There is a TV studio on an upper level from which there are tremendous long views to the Pentlands and the Lammermuir Hills. In addition to the en-suite bathroom, there is another family bathroom with additional laundry space. There is also a boot room for coats and boots at the rear entrance. The county of Midlothian is home to countless castles, forts, country houses and gardens ready to be explored. The cottage is located in the countryside but is within 15 minutes’ drive of Edinburgh and its castle, historic centre and multitude of activities, restaurants and shopping. Rosslyn Chapel (featured in the Da Vinci Code) and Roslin Glen are within 1½ miles of the property. For those interested in outdoors and sporting activities, the Pentland Hills within the Country Park are within an easy walk of the cottage and Edinburgh’s reservoirs are available nearby for fishing. A few minutes’ drive away is Hillend ski slope (until recently the longest dry ski slope in Europe) where there are two main slopes for snowboarding, skiing and blading. There are also a dozen golf courses around Edinburgh including the new children and beginners course at Swanston Golf course. The world’s largest indoor climbing arena is 20 minutes’ drive away at Ratho, and fabulous East Lothian beaches and a number of swimming pools are all within easy reach.The Scottish Borders, Fife coastal villages or the delights of Stirling and Perthshire are all easily accessible and make for great day trips.
