Located on a working farm, it is an ideal holiday base to explore some of the best beaches in Wales and is just 2 miles from the coast. Visit the slate caverns and castle and Portmeirion and Snowdonia are easily accessible. St David’s Royal Golf Course and theatre at Harlech. Ysgubor Uchaf (ref 29517) and Hen Ysgubor (ref 29518) are situated further up along the farm’s private lane. Hen Ysgubor is a ground floor apartment situated below Ysgubor Uchaf which is the first floor apartment. They overlook the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, just off the coastal road to Fairbourne. Both properties are close for the beautiful Mawddach Estuary footpath and coastal trail/cycle path and direct access from the farm leads down to the golden sands of Fairbourne beach or across the Victorian bridge to Barmouth.

If you wish you can just relax, enjoy a spot of fishing nearby, or the more energetic can enjoy family walks in the idyllic scenery in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Snowdonia National Park. The family run pony trekking and equestrian centre on-site is just on the north side of the farm, and riders and complete beginners are catered for if you wish to ride. Brig-y-Don is a spacious detached property, cleverly divided into two properties, which can be booked separately or both together if you have an extended family. The larger of the two, Brig-y-Don, sleeps six, and has a lovely kitchen/dining room with stunning views out over the sparkling waters of Cardigan Bay, and a spacious living room with a warming wood burner – ideal for relaxing in front of with a glass of wine. The smaller property, Brig-y-Don Bach, which is all on one level, has a separate entrance and a private patio to the side of the house. It’s ideal for couples or grandparents wanting to have their own space! Both properties share the fabulous rear garden each with their own seating area. The main part of the garden enjoys the glorious sea views, which are particularly gorgeous in the evenings as the sun sinks into the sea to the west. The garden is enclosed, so great if you’re taking your pooch with you! From the end of the garden, there’s a direct path which, in just a few minutes, takes you down over the railway crossing, and onto the sandy beach (don’t forget to bring your bucket and spade!).
You can stroll along the promenade and into the town centre, where you’ll find a good selection of pubs, cafés and eateries, plus a lovely choice of individual shops. You can hire a bike and explore the scenic Mawddach Trail, which runs along the course of an old railway line through pretty Penmaenpool, all the way to the market town of Dolgellau. You can enjoy a trip on a steam train on the Fairbourne Railway, Talyllyn Railway or Ffestiniog Railway, all of which are nearby, or visit mighty Harlech Castle, perched on the cliff in the picturesque town of Harlech (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). If adrenaline’s your thing, a visit to Zip World in Blaenau Ffestiniog is a must. Here you’ll find the world’s largest zip wire zone, plus Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets and whizz down slides deep underground in an old slate cavern. Commanding spectacular countryside, mountain and coastal views, this former farmhouse is ideally situated for making the most of the area’s abundance of attractions and leisure facilities. The property sits on a quiet rural lane above historic Harlech with its magnificent castle, championship golf course, theatre, good shops and restaurants, and sandy beach. Superb walking and cycling in Snowdonia National Park, slate caverns to explore and scenic narrow gauge railway trips are all within easy reach, and the Italianate village of Portmeirion lies just 8 miles away. Porthmadog and the traditional seaside resort of Barmouth are within easy reach. For an alternative day out, take a ride on the miniature steam train that chugs its way alongside Lake Bala.

The Edward I castle (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) broods dramatically over the town of Harlech, which also has a superb sandy beach. Visit the Cambrian Coast down to Barmouth and beyond, whilst in the other direction the Lleyn Peninsula beckons with the seaside towns of Criccieth and Abersoch.

On entering the proeprty you are greeted by a spacious open plan living space with doors leading out to the rear enclosed garden, from here there is a gate onto a path to which you can take a short walk down to Black Rock Sands, a large sandy beach that spans for 2 miles backed by sand dunes and plenty of rock pools to keep the children and adults entertained for hours. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you’ll need for your stay, there’s also a separate utility in the garden area. On the first floor there are three bedrooms all stylishly decorated, and a quality modern walk-in shower room.
There really is a lovely welcoming feeling in this house as soon as you walk through the door, and your ideally positioned to explore this special region. Around 15 minutes walk you will find the famous Black Rock Sands, You are perfectly placed for mountain and coastal walks.
There’s a wealth of activities in the area, from rock climbing, kayaking, quad bike tours, or why not take a Llama for a walk? You are also right next to a fantastic golf course. The nearby town of Porthmadog is only 2 miles away and has a wealth of places to eat, lots of quaint independent shops and is also home to the famous Welsh Highland Railway. The Italian style village of Portmeirion is a short 15-minute drive away. Take a drive a little further just under 12 miles and you’ll discover the imposing Harlech Castle which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Set less than 2 miles from the edge of the Snowdonia National Park why not take a walk up Wales’s highest mountain? Beach ½ mile.

An immaculately presented lodge, new from September 2021, nestled in a backdrop of mature woodland trees. Once inside there is a spacious open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area all stylishly furnished with your comfort in mind. There’s a twin bedroom and separate family bathroom with modern shower. The kingsize bedroom has an en-suite shower room along with a dressing area. Outside is perfect for some wildlife spotting with spacious decking and a woodland view. A fantastic spot for some bird watching, the bird table on the decking can be seen from the lounge patio doors, with bird food provided you are sure to see an array of local birds visiting. On site there is a popular restaurant set in a wonderful Victorian Manor House, Aberdunant Hall Hotel 4 star is walking distance from the lodge, be sure to book to avoid disappointment! In addition, there are lovely dog walks available as soon as your step outside of the lodge.
For amenities you’ll find the village Tremadog, just over 2 miles distance, here there’s a convenience store and a couple of traditional Welsh Pubs to visit, and a fish and chip shop. Situated in the Snowdonia National Park, and just outside Porthmadog a busy harbour town, home to the famous Welsh Highland Railway. You’re ideally placed for enjoying the delights of the area. Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, is a magnet for climbers and walkers. The area has an excellent range of outdoor pursuits, historic castles and family attractions. The picturesque Italian village of Portmeirion, is well worth a visit, as is the glorious sandy beach at Black Rock Sands, great for all ages, you can drive your car onto the vast expanse of sands. The picturesque village of Beddgelert is less than 10 minutes’ drive a must visit, with some truly special scenery and walks to enjoy for all abilities, be sure to read up on the legend of Gelert before your visit. Bounce Below underground trampolining and the Antur Stiniog bike trails which is located Blaenau Ffestiniog. Adventure Zip World is only 12 miles away and has a wide array of activities.
