This well presented two bedroom terraced cottage is set in a small village in the Snowdonia National Park with a lake to the rear of the property. There are stunning views from the holiday cottage across the mountains and lake. There are many fantastic mountain walks and also a walk around the lake as well as fishing in the lake. With Beddgelert only 10 miles away and Porthmadog and the Italianate village of Portmeirion is 15 miles away, the beach at Dinas Dinlle is 7 miles away. Mount Snowdon and many other mountains in the range are all close at hand for those wishing to climb them. Also available are riding, cycling, bird watching, golf and fishing. Dylasau Cottage is detached, set down a quiet, woodland, country lane, at the top of a gently terraced garden. About a mile away are many fine waterfalls, including the Conwy Falls and the Machno Falls (near the mountain-ringed village of Penmachno). Nearby are the 14 peaks of Snowdon, golf, good horse riding and fishing to enjoy whilst there is a delightful farm trail on the owner’s farm close by. Reputedly the best rock climbing in the world is available near to Capel Curig, in addition to canoeing and skiing. The nearby village of Betws-y-Coed, the gateway to Snowdonia, has much to offer, including the fabulous, family-friendly treetop nets at Zip World Fforest. A short drive takes you to Blaenau Ffestiniog which offers adrenaline junkies the options of trying Europe’s longest zip lines, or Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets in an old slate cavern. It is just 3 miles to the pretty town of Dolgellau, offering a range of places to eat and drink. Dolgellau is also the starting point of the Mawddach Trail, a level 9 mile walk along the old railway line to Barmouth. The large sandy beach at Barmouth is well worth a visit – don’t forget your bucket and spade! In the other direction is Bala home to the largest natural lake in Wales, and the Bala Lake Railway, offering a memorable journey by steam train along the lake shore. Beach 11 miles. Conveniently located half way between the two very popular coastal villages of Criccieth and Porthmadog, Tyddyn Iolyn is an excellent base to explore this delightful area, with a multitude of amazing walks, fantastic cycling opportunities and a fine selection of visitor attractions nearby.
Porthmadog is the departure point for wonderful steam train journeys on the world famous Ffestiniog Railway as it winds its spectacular way through superb scenery up into the Snowdonia Mountains. The pretty Italianate village of Portmeirion, location of the cult TV series ‘The Prisoner’ is also close by. Criccieth is a pretty village watched over by a medieval castle, and boasts a lovely beach and a good selection of restaurants and shops. Set amidst the stunning scenery of the Snowdonia National Park, Penmachno is a lovely Welsh village centrally located for exploring both mountains and coast and just over 4 miles away from Betws-Y-Coed with its fine selection of outdoor pursuit shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs. Close by you will find a superb selection of mountain bike trails, excellent walking and bird watching opportunities as well as many family friendly visitor attractions. Ymwlch Barns are a charming complex of barn conversions situated in a quiet hamlet offering beautiful mountain views and country walks. The Dutch barns (UK12872 and UK12873) are superb, semi-detached barn conversions each offering modern open plan living with a luxurious touch and lovely private hot tubs in enclosed courtyards (towels not provided). They each have a kingsize bedroom and a twin room, making them ideal for small families or couples. The detached holiday property is just a short walk to Penrhyn station on the world famous Ffestiniog narrow gauge railway where you can hop on board the steam train down to the delightful harbour town of Porthmadog, or in the other direction on the spectacular journey to the former slate quarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, now home to Zip World (the world’s largest zip wire zone) and Bounce Below, where the whole family can have fun on the underground trampoline nets!
