Traditionally furnished and well equipped, this Yorkshire cottage provides a comfortable and romantic hideaway, with a spacious living room, modern kitchen and bathroom plus two cosy bedrooms. Outside the cottage is a great sitting area from where you can enjoy the glorious views over the rolling countryside, and a courtyard style garden offering the perfect spot to sit and relax. Enjoy excellent walks from the doorstep, with a network of public footpaths in the vicinity, including the Eskdale Walk and the Cleveland Way coastal path.

Visit the seaside town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea, just a short drive away and boasting the oldest water balanced, funicular cliff tramway in Great Britain alongside great restaurants and beaches.

The village of Loftus has good amenities, including three pubs, a Gin palace with micro-brewery, local grocery shops, bakery and an award winning bookshop stocking plenty of local authors and gifts. In the ‘Iron Valley’ of Skinningrove you’ll find secluded beaches and The Tom Leonard Mining Museum.

Enjoy the fishing port of Whitby, with its winding cobbled streets, famous abbey and wonderful fish and chips, or explore the spectacular coastline and dramatic North York Moors. The area surrounding this Yorkshire cottage offers a wealth of attractions including the steam railway at Grosmont, the pretty market towns of Pickering and Helmsley and stately homes and gardens such as Castle Howard. This beautiful glamping lodge offers a comfortable stay situated just outside the picturesque market town of Helmsley. The property is set within the grounds of a working farm and retirement livery yard and offers breath taking views across the fantastic North York Moors which is just on the doorstep.
This quirky lodge has all the mod cons to make your glamping experience feel unique and special. The Nab has plenty of character and offers families and friends a luxury glamping retreat, whilst being ideally located to explore all that the North York Moors has to offer.
The property is set mainly over one level however you have a king size bed on the mezzanine floor which can be accessed by a steep paddle staircase, there is very limited head room but is an ideal area for children. On the ground floor you have a fully equipped kitchen which is shared with the living area and boasts a Smart TV and all the facilities you would expect in a self-catering lodge. On the same floor you have a small bathroom with a shower cubicle and heated towel rail along with a private bedroom with a double bed.
The enclosed garden offers a picnic bench along with a firepit which can also be used as a barbecue and gives you a full panoramic view of the North York Moors which is simply beautiful; luxury glamping does not get much more perfect than this. With the cottage situated near Helmsley, the local pubs, restaurants, shops and Helmsley Brewery are within easy reach, a short 6-mile drive.
The North York Moors National Park is full of bike trails and fantastic, scenic walks including the very popular Rievaulx Abbey. Nearby towns include Malton, Pickering, Thirsk, and a little further afield York. Also, the very popular coastal towns of Whitby and Scarborough are approximately a 40-minute drive away should you wish to have a day at the beach.

A stunning two bedroom apartment in an popular area of Whitby, just a stone’s throw away from the famous Whitby whale bone arch. The property benefits from a private parking space at your door, so need to worry about parking on your arrival or return from a day’s adventure! The master bedroom is spacious with kingsize bed and an en-suite shower room, and the second bedroom benefits from being next to the family bathroom. The coast is just a short walk from your doorstep where you can enjoy over 1½ miles of golden sands, including a designated dog walking area. You can also enjoy donkey rides or just take a stroll with an ice cream whilst enjoying fantastic views out to sea and across to the abbey, made famous by Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Head into the town centre where you will find plenty of quaint shops selling all sorts of curiosities from Whitby Jet jewellery to Gothic clothing. Whitby has a hugely popular food and drink scene with many bistros and café bars, as well as traditional fish and chip shops and tea rooms. There are many pubs and bars that offer a warm welcome to dogs and humans alike, as well as the many festivals and events that take place in the town such as the bi-annual Goth Weekender, Steam Punk weekends and the famous folk week.

Venture just a little further out of town for a game of golf or explore some of the hidden gems to be found all along the coast. Take a visit to Robin Hoods Bay, which can be accessed along the Cinder track and Cleveland Way, or any number of bays and coves along this magnificent coastline including Staithes, Runswick Bay and Saltburn. For a complete contrast, you can head inland and take in the breathtaking scenery of the North York Moors National Park. For a different kind of day you can take a steam train from Whitby into Goathland, also known as Aidensfield in the popular Heartbeat TV series. With so much to see and do on your doorstep you may need more than one visit. The traditional Victorian seaside town of Scarborough, just half an hour away with Alpamar Waterpark, Open Air Theatre, attracting some of the worlds top names, and Sealife Centre. Beach 400 yards. Situated at the foot of the North York Moors National Park, Weaver’s Cottage, restored in 2019, retains lots of character and original features. This pretty row of terraced cottages was home to some of the weavers that worked in the mills that were dotted in Pickering and the surrounding villages. The cottage has the added bonus of private parking for two cars as well as a rear courtyard area.

Pickering is a bustling market town with lots of restaurants, wine bars and local pubs. There’s a market every Monday held down the high street where locals and tourists enjoy the bargains. Situated just a 5-minute walk from the North York Moors steam railway, and for those train enthusiasts amongst you, this makes for a dream holiday. You can catch the steam train from Pickering and travel over the North York Moors National Park to Whitby. Stop off at the village of Goathland, home to the fictional village of Aidensfield in the popular TV programme ’Heartbeat’.

Whitby is a bustling seaside town with its majestic abbey standing proud on the headland reached by 199 steps from the cobbled streets lined with independent shops and cafés. Scarborough and Filey lie to the east of Pickering, both fantastic seaside resorts with award winning beaches. The Dalby Forest is a short drive or bike ride from the cottage and is home to one of the World Cup Mountain Bike Trials, and there are challenging runs as well as the easy routes for beginners. The Dalby Forest is also home to ’Go Ape’, a great high rope adventure course through the forest. Just a 10-minute drive away is Flamingo Land Theme Park with exhilarating rides and a fantastic zoo making for a great family day out. Beach 19 miles. Shop 400 yards, pub 500 yards and restaurant ½ mile.

Pickering is a delight - old fashioned friendliness and an unhurried pace of life combine with charming old inns, 12th-century castle, museums, and remarkable medieval frescoes in the local church, and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway takes visitors on a nostalgic journey through spectacular heather-clad moorland scenery to Grosmont. City of York 26 miles. Castle Howard, setting for TV’s Brideshead Revisited, Nunnington Hall (NT), Duncombe Park, and Rievaulx Abbey, are just a few treasures to discover. York offers the majestic minster, the fascinating Jorvik Viking Centre, the Castle Museum, the National Railway Museum, and excellent shopping facilities. On the east coast lie Scarborough and Bridlington, the picturesque fishing villages of Robin Hood’s Bay, and Staithes, and the fascinating old port of Whitby, with its Captain Cook connections, as well as 3 miles of sandy beaches and a colourful harbour, while the popular resort of Scarborough is 17 miles away offering excellent shopping and family entertainment. Pickering’s swimming-pool is just a 3 minute walk away, good cycling in Dalby Forest, as well as forest walks, fishing, pony trekking and golf.
The cottages have been converted with great flair by the owners, Mike and Sue Kitching, from the outbuildings of Hungate House. The delightful setting includes eight secluded gardens, courtyards and an orchard, as well as an enclosed play area with basket swing and wendy house for children. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful, and have been well kept, to ensure a relaxing environment. They are a real haven in a lovely Yorkshire town. Each cottage retains much character, with old stone arches, fireplaces and beams carefully retained. Immaculately maintained, warm, clean and superbly well-equipped with free high speed Wi-fi, these cottages are truly a ‘home from home’. No wonder so many visitors return time and again. The owners provide plenty of helpful information on the huge choice of places to visit, as well as menus from the local restaurants. Hungate is best summed up by a visitor who wrote, "There was nothing more we could have wished for in a holiday home. We loved the fire, the free logs and little touches such as fresh flowers – it felt like home. The children loved the freedom of the gardens and could not wait to get home from our excursions! We loved coming and going through the heavy black gate into an oasis in this nice town."

Bickley School House is ideally situated to form the perfect outdoor pursuits centre, being part of the North Yorkshire Moors and very close to Dalby Forest. The detached holiday properties are surrounded by glorious woodland walks and activities such as mountain and cross country biking, fishing and horse riding are all available.
