The house sleeps up to eight people comfortably with a kingsize bed, double bed, small double and two single beds. There is a main upstairs bathroom with a bath and a newly fitted downstairs shower room. The kitchen is well equipped with an Aga, as well as an electric cooker. The owner’s aim is to make this a home from home, and you will find all the facilities and equipment you would expect to find at your own house here too. In winter you can cosy up by the two wood burners in either of the sitting rooms, equipped with Smart TVs. There is something for everyone to enjoy during your stay at Rosary House, with Scarborough only a short 10-minute drive away where you can spend the day at the beach, or check out the impressive views of the coast from Scarborough Castle. You can dine out at one of the many local village pubs in Irton, and the award-winning fish and chip shop which are only a short walk away. If you would like to venture a little further, Whitby is only a 40-minute drive, or you can experience an old-fashioned steam train ride from Pickering to Whitby. Families can enjoy a day out at the Sea Life Centre in Scarborough or Flamingo Land, near Pickering, only 30 minutes away. You can hop on the train to the historical city of York for a day trip and The North York Moors are right on your doorstep for great walking routes. Situated in the popular seaside resort of Scarborough, close to the shops and restaurants and just under a mile from the beach, this terraced townhouse is perfect for a family holiday. The owners have catered for the children with a games room that has lots of games plus a pool table. Mill View House is in a quiet area of the town. From the house you can walk to either bay, north or south, both having long sandy beaches making them ideal for families. The North Bay is the quieter of the two and the South Bay has all that you would expect of a traditional seaside resort with donkeys, amusements and children’s rides. You can walk on the promenade the full length of both bays passing the castle perched up on the hillside. If you prefer to take a ride there’s an open top double decker bus that runs along the seafront.
Scarborough has many attractions with the open air theatre, the Scarborough Spa and the Stephen Joseph Theatre. On your walk down to the beach you pass Peasholm Park with it’s beautiful gardens and large lake, a fabulous place to take the kids, there’s boats and pedalos for them to play on. This is also where they do the famous re-enactment of a naval warfare miniature sea battle. The house is situated less than two minutes walk from the train station where you can go by train to York, a medieval city famous for its Minster. There’s so much to do in Scarborough which is why it’s popular both in the summer and winter months. An ideal spot for that family holiday.
Scarborough is just one of many family resorts down the east coast. Further down the coast and just a short drive away is Filey, Flamborough Head and of course the Victorian resort of Bridlington. There’s some fantastic walks along the cliff tops as this is part of the Cleveland Way so very popular amongst walkers. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton is just a few minutes drive away where you can see puffins, gannets and seals in their natural habitat. This is one of the most visited bird sanctuary in the UK.

Turnerdale Hall is a Gothic-style country manor house, and guests can enjoy full access to the east wing of the property and its beautiful grounds. With many of its period features still intact and lovingly restored, you will love exploring the house and will even get to enjoy seeing the steam train pass below the bedroom window, or you can sit out on the patio area to enjoy the views over the River Esk.
The house has an impressive entrance doorway with a coat of arms above the door, and double doors into a vestibule which leads to a large reception hall. Leading from the hall is the main drawing room, which is very large and perfect for family gatherings. It has three large comfortable sofas, a TV with Freesat, a DVD player and a bay window with a window seat, giving uninterrupted views up the River Esk and over the weir. French doors lead from the drawing room to the garden. On the lower ground floor, the well-equipped kitchen can be accessed from either the entrance hallway or via the garden. Off the kitchen is a second reception room with three sofas, a Freesat TV with a DVD player as well as board games and books, making this a great place for relaxing in or for children to play in. The first floor has a good-size master bedroom with fabulous views over the garden and across the valley, as well as a twin bedroom and a bedroom with a large single bed. On the second floor is a double bedroom boasting superb views across the valley, and further twin bedroom.
Outside there are beautiful, established lawned gardens with shrubs and trees. A raised decked area is the perfect place to sit and enjoy al fresco dining or simply sip pre-dinner drinks whilst admiring glorious views over the River Esk.
Set in a picturesque village close to the coast, you will have plenty to do, including boating on the river or exploring the cobbled stone streets and shops in nearby Whitby. Mill House is a listed property perfectly set within the picturesque village of Hawnby, built in 1781 by I and L Dawson. On the ground floor you have a gorgeous kitchen which is well presented, well equipped and has plenty of room for food preparation. On the same floor you have a charming, very comfortable living area with an open fire and a Smart TV; this room oozes character. There are two bedrooms on the first floor, one with a double bed and the other with twin beds. Both rooms have en-suite bathrooms and lovely garden views. Up a further set of stairs, you again have a double bed and twin beds both with en-suite bathrooms. All four bedrooms have kept all their charm and are beautifully decorated and furnished to an exceptionally high standard. With deep mattresses and luxurious bed linen, you are assured a great night’s sleep, guaranteeing you will wake refreshed and ready for another day exploring the North York Moors.
Hawnby is only 8 miles from Helmsley which is arguably one of Yorkshire’s finest market towns. This wonderful village is where the North York Moors and the Howardian Hills meet, offering some of the finest views and countryside. Helmsley is also a walker’s paradise where the Ebor Way meets the Cleveland Way, along with the Inn Way. With a reputation for great Yorkshire hospitality, the market square is a meeting point for walkers, cyclists and locals alike. Helmsley knows how to keep its visitors happy, with many shops, cafés, eateries including Michelin starred restaurants, an open-air swimming pool, walled garden, castle, bird of prey centre, microbrewery, two abbey ruins and the stately home of Duncombe Park. You will need more than a few nights at Mill House to experience all that this little town has to offer. The scenic east coast is easily accessible, as is the historic city of York which is only 24 miles to the south. Shop and pub 1 mile, other pubs and restaurant 5 miles.

Denton House, in the hamlet of Ravenscar, stands in an elevated position 600 feet above sea level overlooking Robin Hood’s Bay and the North York Moors. The horizon is 33 miles distant on a clear day. This detached home was built in 1993 from locally quarried stone blocks and has oil central heating and two log burning stoves. A garden room, also constructed from stone blocks is heated by electric oil radiator, and contains a sink unit, garden chairs, television with built in DVD player. The main feature of the room is a games table which can be used for either American pool, air hockey and table tennis. A lockable garage may be used for the storage of bikes. The garden, which overlooks a field immediately behind the house and towards the valley and bay, has two patio areas, one behind the house and the other next to the garden room. Both enjoy a sunny aspect for the majority of sunny days. Sheep graze in the field at certain times of the year and dog owners need to be aware that this is sheep country. There is a modern kitchen and a handy downstairs shower room. The second floor has an open plan landing with sofa looking out towards the moors.
Denton House is situated within a few hundred yards of the Cleveland Way route, which is perfect for guests who enjoy walking. There is a path leading down to a beach from the clifftop, or alternative road access to the beach via a track 1.5 miles away. There is also the old railway line which ran through Ravenscar between Scarborough and Whitby until the 1960’s which serves as a mainly gentle cycle track for the family. The station platform, tunnel and bridges are still in place along the 21 mile line. The beach below the cliffs at Ravenscar can be accessed by footpath across the golf course or by the disused railway line. Vehicle access is by a scenic single track road leading down the valley to a sandy beach. The foreshore of Robin Hood’s Bay is very well known for ammonite fossils and searching for them can be good fun for children of all ages.
The larger resorts of Whitby and Scarborough are just a short drive away. Whitby is a very busy working harbour and town, and is famous for the Dracula and Heartbeat locations and the exploits of Captainn Cook. Not forgetting award winning fish restaurants. Alternatively, Scarborough is a large Victorian seaside resort famous for its two bays, the North Bay being the quieter of the two. The long marine drive is over three miles of flat walking and is ideal for a pleasant evening stroll. Shop 8 miles, pub 2 miles and restaurant 500 yards.

The patio at the front of the property has glass fencing to maximise the breathtaking panoramic views and this sun trap is perfect for sitting out and watching the world go by with a glass or two of something special. Stepping inside through double glass doors, you are welcomed into the modern and well-equipped kitchen, complete with a breakfast bar. From every room (except the shower rooms and toilet) you have harbour or sea views. The adjoining open plan living/dining room is spacious and tastefully furnished, with enough seating for this to be an enjoyable social space for you all together. The ground floor is complete with a toilet for added convenience. Upstairs on the first floor are two kingsize bedrooms, each with wood panelling and bespoke built-in hanging rails and shelves. The family bathroom on this floor is exquisite with a bath as well as a separate shower. On the second floor are a further two kingsize bedrooms, almost a mirror reflection of the bedrooms below, but with more elevated views. There is also a well-presented shower room on this floor.
Whitby is seafaring town and proud of its heritage; there are tales of Viking invasions, heroic sea rescues as well as seafaring pioneers. Discover more at the museums, including one on a tall ship in the harbour. Today fishermen still sail from Whitby, there are many award-winning restaurants where you can sample the freshly caught seafood. There are also festivals throughout the seasons making this a perfect all year-round resort to visit.
The surrounding North York Moors National Park is full of moorland and woodland trails as well as the wonderful heritage steam railway, the steam train leaves Whitby and travels over the moors towards the market town of Pickering, with other picturesque villages along the way. There is an array of seaside towns and villages along the coast to visit, with breathtaking beaches and coves. For younger family members, and within an hour’s drive, you have Flamingoland theme park and zoo, the Sea Life Centre, Alpamare Water Park and Go Ape tree top ziplining in Dalby Forest.
