Positioned at the foothills of the Preseli Hills, it lies close to the quaint hamlet of Eglwyswrw, and is conveniently on the doorstep of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, which offers fantastic walks through the hills and on the coastal paths, as well as horse riding, fishing on the Rivers Teifi and Nevern, and even sea fishing and wildlife spotting. There is also golf within 8 miles, as well as kayaking nearby. The historic market town of Cardigan is only a 15-minute drive away, and nearby are a host of beautiful beaches such as Poppit and Newport Sands or Cwm-Yr-Eglwys and Pwllgwaelod. This rugged and sublime Pembrokeshire coastline really is worth a visit. The historic market town of Cardigan has a bustling high street featuring the famous Cardigan Castle, many antique and craft shops, together with an abundance of restaurants and cafés. To relax those aching muscles after a busy day sightseeing, you can retire to your very own private hot tub with unobstructed sea views over Saundersfoot Bay, Monkstone Point and Caldey Island watching the sun drop on those balmy summer days and observing the many stars overhead.

Accessed by a rough track, and with the owner living adjacent, detached Tan Y Castell is a 5-minute drive from the boutique market town of Narberth which is aptly twinned with Ludlow. Several art galleries and antique shops can be found here, as well as the former town hall that still houses the cell where the leaders of the Rebecca Riots were imprisoned; superb dining using fresh local produce can also be enjoyed here. Further south is Folly Farm, voted one of Wales’ top attractions, along with the Blue Lagoon Water Park and Oakwood Theme Park, all within 10 minutes’ drive. A pretty, modern, pet-friendly Pembrokeshire holiday cottage converted from what was once the smithy and smith’s cottage. Set on the hillside leading up to the hilltop village of Mathry, it is cosy, comfortable and features exposed stone walls and a high vaulted ceiling. The spacious kitchen/dining room is a lovely, welcoming family room with open plan stairs leading to a galleried loft bedroom over the kitchen. The owner, who lives in the adjoining, but completely separate cottage, has hand-crocheted beautiful bedspreads for every bed. Leading off the kitchen to the rear is a sun room and gravelled outdoor dining area with table and chairs. The living room (two steps down from the kitchen) has an open fire and a piano for those who are musically inclined to enjoy! The village pub is just a short walk from the property and is a traditional village pub offering a warm welcome and good pub food.
There is wonderful walking and cycling country with easy access either on foot or by car to the numerous coves and beaches along the Pembrokeshire National Park Coastal Path - a beach lover’s paradise. Walk through National Trust Broom Wood to the twin beaches of Abermawr and Aberbach (dogs are welcome all year round), it is never crowded on account of limited parking and a quarter of a mile walk to each.
